Swimming Against the Clock: My Road to District Championship Success

A Deep Dive into My Hobby: SWIMMING

My district swimming medal traces back to my ambitious 40-day, 6-hour challenge. So, get ready as I take you through my exhilarating journey!

My day started off at 4:30 in the morning and stretched until 9:30 at night. You might be wondering, what could possibly motivate me to wake up this early? Well, it was my intense swim regimen: 3 hours in the morning and another 2 hours in the evening. Some mornings, it extended to a bad tiring 4-hour session that included core, leg, and upper body workouts. I even braved practicing at 45-degree Celsius sun during peak summer, although I now regret not applying sunscreen—resulting in quite the tan!

By the time I returned home around 10:30 AM, I had devoured a hearty breakfast by 11:00 and was ready to catch some well-deserved rest. Despite my heavy food intake, the rigorous swimming workouts burned through calories like nothing else. After waking up around 1:00 or 2:00 PM, I would have lunch, study, and then gear up for my next swim session. It was very exhausting, but it also paved the way for significant success.

The district swimming championship was on June 8th and 9th. Despite only beginning competitive swimming practice earlier that year, I was fraught with nervousness—what if I failed to qualify? However, my practice paid off. In the 50m backstroke event, I bagged a medal and secured my spot in the state-level competition. Now, I am proud to represent Gurugram district on July 20th. It's a tremendous opportunity, so please keep your fingers crossed for me!
